Personal Projects
This was a personal motion design project, with the intention of practicing my design skills and sparking creativity.

Created in After Effects, Procreate and Illustrator. The reason for this being 1080x10920 was to see the restrictions and perspective of a mobile-first approach and how best to utilise the space (and overcome any limitations) as I was working for a social media agency at the time.

I wanted to create a highlight reel of sorts, showcasing a portfolio of work using as many different styles of motion design as possible. I wanted each line of the poem to use a different design choice, and use a skill I either haven't had the opportunity to try before, or one that I am wanting to hone.
I chose the subject matter to be a poem about walking in January, as I concluded this would be rich in sensory details allowing for exciting and stimulating visual and auditory details.

I set myself this task to spark creativity to use later in a professional capacity, resulting in a bank of work that I can call on in the future for inspiration when working on client briefs. I wanted to further challenge myself as a designer and push my capabilities, trying to encompass as many elements of motion design; through sound effects and music choices, conceptualising a brief for myself, sourcing my own assets, and mastering my knowledge of different softwares.

January Footsteps
In January's quiet air,
Footsteps whisper, crisp and rare,
The world is still, the earth is bare,
A silver frost hangs everywhere.
Breath like smoke, the sky so pale,
I walk beneath the winter's veil,
Where silence sings and branches stare,
And all the world a quiet frozen prayer.
I have also been seeking to improve my motion skills and SFX through personal projects on TikTok and Instagram. The goal of these passion projects has been to find out what drives engagement on socials, as well as hone my design skills. But most importantly to find out what is my passion and my personal style.

A specific passion of mine as an artist and designer, is character animation. These videos have been a great creative outlet for me in terms of getting to explore and own that craft. Seeing the work pay off has been really rewarding and motivating for me to continue carving out a recognizable design style.
I also adore getting to use frame by frame hand drawn animation, using Procreate and Aftereffects. I have been finding time to curate my own artistic identity, whilst nurturing a medium that requires lots of patience and a human touch (in a world where AI is on the rise). Getting to be intentional with every movement and detail has improved my skills in design but also allowed me to keep falling in love with the creative process.
